Omotic languages
There are up to 30 Omotic languages, all of which are spoken in southern and south-western Ethiopia. For present purposes, they can be subgrouped as follows (cfr Bender 2000, Hayward 2000):
- North Omotic -- some 20 languages, maybe less
- South Omotic (Aroid) -- 3-5 languages
- Mao Omotic -- four languages
